I am delayed in writing about Saturday. I left the range right after shooting got done and drove to stay with my mom in Palm Desert. She does not know her own passwords for her wi-fi. She just has a “computer guy” come and hook it up for her. I missed the B-bque and awards ceremony Sat after wards but people said I did not miss much. I did miss getting my Team plaque. I think Gary R. grabbed it for me and I can get it from him back home. As soon as I left the base and got on Hwy 62 the rains came. And boy did they. We were so lucky all day. So, highlights for the day!
I realized I had not picked up my AR since July 4th weekend. But my zeros were still perfect and I felt I did pretty well considering the one miss I got at offhand…..don’t ask, and the 15 mph winds back at 600. Offhand was going super well. I felt like my front post was glued to the center of the black. It just plunked right in there and I was pulling the trigger in time. Then the flinch. I knew I shot it high but I was thinking a 7 or 6 max. A miss! Then I was rattled for a couple more shots and then settled back in. I had an alibi at 300 rapid. I heard a click and no bang so I stopped. We cleared and it and the pin hit the primer but no bang. Hmmm. Any powder in there? Then the target puller ( a Marine) covered the holes of shots I did get off so I got to have a pit alibi and shoot all shots again. Only dropped 3 points then. I did have a great day though. Lee Ermie showed up. I could not get the nerve to ask him for a photo out of the blue. I always feel bad for celebrities getting bugged like that but I really wanted it for the blog. By the time I got the nerve I realized he had left early for a speech he was to give in Vegas that night for the Marine’s Ball. Oh well, next time.
I drove to Palm Desert and hung with mom until tonight. She has been really lonely and depressed since dad passed. She was so sad I was leaving already tonight. She is coming back up to Seattle in mid December for 3 weeks so she will be around family again. Sheesh. Broke my heart to leave her. Now I am stuck at the PS airport in a 5 hour delay because of the snow storm in Seattle. Since when do we get snow there in November? Oh yea. Global Warming. Oops. Out loud voice again. A plain from China slid off the runway closing it down. So my plane was delayed in leaving to come down here. Just heard Seatac is back open so we should get out of here tonight. Now lets hope the Seattle freeways are not jammed up too much for Charles to get me. And of course I packed the plug for my laptop in my luggage. I think I have an hour or so to play on it. I am lucky to get home around 2am. Did I mention I have a heck of a cold now too? Miserable. Just want to be home in bed. All part of the adventure eh?
