I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to be here. Not a cloud to be seen any where! It finally got up to about 75 degrees and it was heaven. I have a little issue with the wind though. This morning it was cooking at 15mph easily at some points. It did die down toward end of day but it was very switchy and fast. On that note. What happenned today?
Fullbore matches, at least some of them, are shot in pairs. So two of us are at the firing point taking turns shooting and then scoring for each other. One has 45 seconds from when the target comes up to score for person and then get your shot off. This is the way we did it up in Canada last year. I like this format actually. Do I have to mention how I did today? Well, ok. Not so great.. At 600 I was super happy to have only dropped 2 points. I only had 2 X’s. But I was happy to at least find that 10 ring. The wind and mirage were moving around so fast. So at 300 and 500 earlier in the day I tanked dropping 5 and 6 points respectively. But! I was not alone. Everyone had trouble. When it is pretty windy like this there is a bit of luck involved also. Nancy, Noma and Brian were at the top of the charts as usual. I did not stick around to see printed results from the 600 yard line but I may have done pretty well in the standings for that one.
Last year on this first day it was just a practice. So this could be considered a practice also for trigger time but at a shorter distance. We head back to 800, 900 and 1000 yards tomorrow. It will be a 4 person Palma team event.
I need to mention that this match is sponsored by Berger Bullets. Last year I won 15 boxes! I hope to do it again this year. Free bullets! Nice.
