I just bought the new lens for my shooting glasses. $60! Being at my eye Dr before that he realized my old brand of contacts were not agreeing with me so he gave me a new brand. They are great! Like night and day. 2 new multi packs, $100! New eyes that do not have to ever wear glasses or contacts again? Priceless. After spending money on new glasses and contacts, now I decide to do Lasik! I have “poo poo’d” the idea of Lasik forever because one it scared me and two I was told my prescription was not bad enough. Of course the clinic that does Lasik tells you “Of course you qualify”. Well, after many tests and referrals from friends I have decided to do it. In fact I am jumping on it! I go in on Thursday this week. EEEEEK!!!!!! Charles is going in the week after me. Both of us with new eyes!

I have several friends whose prescriptions were not as bad as mine and they got it done and love it. Of course at our age people say your near-sightedness goes quicker. Not true. First of all the surgery puts your eyes to”normal”. You see as though you have your contacts or glasses on. Well right now I already need reading glasses to help me out with tiny projects like making jewelry. Reading is still ok but I if the lighting is low and print small I am toast. So I already am at that stage. It is not going to make it worse. Now the technology is far along and as you age, if your eyes do change again you can get it again. But for a touch-up fee and not the whole price over again. What am I most excited about?

Shooting of course. Now I don’t have to worry about my contacts bothering me and drying out or getting dust in them when I shoot at places like Ben Avery. I don’t have to wear the ugly glasses I showed you in the last blog entry I did. And if I were to use those glasses I would have to wear my regular glasses in between shooting so I can score, etc and I would not be able to wear sunglasses unless I bought another pair of prescription sunglasses. 3 sets of glasses for a day. Too much to juggle. Now, any of the eye pieces I have on my rifle sights will still work. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will update you on Friday this week to let you know how it goes. I am giving myself time to heal before I go to Twenty Nine Palms. You need time before you put strain on eyes. Most importantly they said you need at least 2 weeks before you swim. Why I am concerned about that now? HAWAII! We go for a week in early December. Just think! I can open my eyes under water without watching my contacts float away. I have not done that since I was in my teens. Ah, the little things in life.
